Social Media Comp Task Checklist

Facebook Competency Tasks:

Students must connect with and befriend the Facebook account of the subject teacher, Margie Teaches Libstudies. Ensure that Margie is following their page: DONE

Students must join the class Facebook group, VU Library Studies Social Media Classes 2015DONE

Students must post at least ten status updates throughout the course: DONE

Students must follow the Facebook pages of at least five library related organisations: DONE (Australian Library and Information Association, GLAMR New Professionals, State Library Victoria, Libraries in Wyndham & Moonee Valley Libraries)

Students must join the ALIA Social Media Group via Facebook and the ALIA National Library Technicians GroupDONE

Students must share the address of their Blog, Twitter, Pinterest and Scoopit accounts via their Facebook page: DONE

Students should link their Facebook page to the Twitter feed so that they can share posts from Facebook to Twitter: DONE

Blogging Competency Tasks:

Students must follow the class blog via email and allow class mates to have access to their own blog: DONE

Students must ensure their blog is listed on the class blog by emailing the teacher the blog address: DONE

Students must include a post that discusses important privacy issues when using social media and a link to a resource or guide on this issue: DONE

Students must include a post which discusses important social media etiquette issues and standards of behaviour when using social media in a professional setting and include a link to a resource of guide on this issue?: DONE

Students must include a post which discussed copyright implications with regard to uploading material to social media: DONE

Students must include a post which discusses different ways libraries use a variety of social media tools and link to at least 3 different social media accounts from Australian libraries: DONE

Students must include at least one link in a blog post to the blog of another classmate where they have commented on that person’s post: DONE

Students must include at least one post where they are sharing the content of a post on a library related blog using the share blog feature at the bottom of each post in blogger: DONE

Twitter Competency Tasks:

Students must follow the Twitter feeds of at least five of their classmates or other VU Library Studies students studying social media: DONE

Students must post at least ten tweets to their Twitter feed over the course of the semester: DONE

Students must repost at least five tweets for other library related organisations: DONE

Students must post an image via their Twitter account. DONE

Students must post some library related video footage from Vimeo via their Twitter feed: DONE

Students must incorporate the use of a #vulibstud2015 into all their tweets: DONE (where applicable)

Pinterest Competency Tasks:

Students must create a Pinterest account for this subject: DONE

Students must follow the Pinterest account of MargieLibstudy and ensure that Margie is following their own Pinterest boards: DONE

Students must create at least two Pinterest boards of library related material and add at least five pins to each board. Include the Pinterest boards of at least Australian two public libraries and repin at least two pins from library boards to each of their own boards: DONE2x Library related boards (Storytime Resources, Storytime Bloggers), with re-pins from West Melbourne Public Library, City of Perth Library, Anderson Public Library, etc.

Students must share their pins with other students in the subject: DONE

Students must scoop at least ten items to their board: DONE

Students must share at least three Scoops via your Facebook and Twitter account: DONE

Write a post on your Facebook page outlining how you think libraries could benefit form using content curation tools such as Scoop.it. Include links to two other content curation tools like Scoop.it: DONE
